We often have other horses en route from Ireland or waiting to come into work, so if nothing suits from the following list, why not let us know what you are looking for by giving us a call or email us on patsy@stubleyhollowfarm.com -  we may know where your perfect match is!

time of year.

My New Year’s resolve of being a bit more efficient with the website updates doesn’t seem to have lasted.  How many of anyone’s resolution last  :0(  But I promise to keep trying.  We have been busy bees here as usual and until recently been patching up with temporary staff which hasn’t always been easy as it doesn’t offer continuity with the care and work schedules for the horses.  But hopefully we are not pretty much sorted with an International feel - a combination of English, Italian and French.  Apart from the horsy connection I think the only other one is that we all did a nose dive in the World Cup but less of that subject the better - fan of football or not!

I’ve not long returned from another Irish venture with a new bunch of neddies soon to follow - in fact the first delivery is next week - I hope.  I’m pleased with the assortment I found as I was with my previous sortie who are now getting established at Stubley and all improving and going well.  So some new faces for you to window shop below and hopefully some more to follow shortly.  Let’s hope by my next update the grass will look green again and hopefully for a bit longer than a couple of weeks before we are back to resembling gravy!!

We look forward to hearing from you as always but do politely request you to contact us in business hours.  First thing each day everyone is always tied up with feeding, yards etc and no one has time to answer the phone.  Monday is the yard day off so business hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. (6 p.m. on Sundays) Tuesday to Sunday.  As much as I would like to talk 'horse' morning, noon and night, I really can't--I think I'm crazy enough already!  Of course there is someone here all the time but at times it really is essential not to talk shop so calls really are not answered outside business hours.  And a final request--if you have made an appointment and can't keep it--PLEASE let us know, it is after all a common courtesy and will save us a lot of unnecessary work when we are busy enough.  We do spend a lot of time getting horses ready for you to view :)

Email enquiries - So many of you contact me by email--it's good to get so many enquiries but I'm sorry I can't always get back to you straight away, it usually takes several days for me to catch up!  If you need to contact us quickly please ring and leave a message if you get an answer machine--we will get back to you.  There has also been the odd email that has gone astray so if you don't hear from me please ring to check I have received it--I answer every email although sometimes it is   -  eventually!!

IMPORTANT EMAIL INFORMATION! - PROBLEMS PROBLEMS!!  I have only recently discovered that very many of my emails sent and possibly you have sent to me have not reached their destination.  My broadband provider is ORANGE and if yours is the same then you may already be aware that they have a fault within their service and random emails are vanishing into the ether.  So please - if you have sent me an email and have not heard back, it may mean that an email has gone missing.   I do have many still awaiting a reply in the hope that Orange get the problem sorted quickly but at present there is still an automated message on their customer service line just advising that all they can say is ‘soon’.  Not at all satisfactory and not good that they did not contact Orange customers to let them know as this has been going on for several weeks.   So......  Please don’t rely on email alone to contact me at present.  Safer to phone or text and let’s hope it’s sorted soon!  I apologise for any inconvenience this may have already caused you.

PRICES.  Those of you who regularly visit the website may sometimes see prices change on some of the horses listed although this is only with a few and we try to keep prices the same.  Sometimes we have young, green or recently backed horses, or horses who need to improve in condition or topline and their prices reflect this.  If they are with us for several months and improve through the work, schooling etc we put into them, their value increases and their asking price may change.   Occasionally other reasons will result in a change of price and if you need to know why on a specific horse, then please contact us.  Some of our advertisements placed in magazines have to go to print weeks before the magazine is published so please check that the magazines or their websites are up to date.

Appointments! So many of you ring to ask if you need one - YES, very definitely please. We do need to know what time to put aside for clients as otherwise the day is filled with working with the horses. So an appointment made at least a day before is much appreciated. We look forward to hearing from you.

QUERIES  If you have any about anything please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do our best to help (details on the 'How to Contact Us' section). BUT... a lot of these questions may already be answered for you on the 'Frequently Asked Questions' section.

LAST SALES LIST UPDATE 11 JULY 2010

HACKING ~ A valid query was made by a client --'do our horses hack out alone as I don't mention this in their description?'  The answer is yes to all of them unless I state otherwise but we don't make a habit of this.  Why?  Stubley Hollow sounds very rural but I'm afraid it's not!  It may have been here nearly 400 yrs but suburbia has grown up around us and being so close to major towns we pay the price when we hack out and have very few bridleways within our reach.  Hence when I say heavy traffic--I mean HEAVY traffic!  We also have to contend with children on trampolines in gardens, in push chairs, on skateboards, scooters etc that whizz up on your inside whilst a lorry passes on the outside.  Not to mention the strimmers, DIY jobs, buses, plastic bags, etc etc that always seem to come at once.  Hence for safety sake, we try to ride in company as much as possible.  But all the horses do hack out alone at times.

11 JULY 2010 ~ With the fields resembling the Gobi Desert - it seems another world away when I think my last description of them was the Battle of the Somme!  If it’s not one thing, it’s another and it seems everyone east of the Pennines (or certainly in this neck of the woods) are doing a rain dance in the hope we get a bit of give in the ground and everywhere starts to resemble this green and pleasant land we are supposed to live in.  A lot of the Stubley horses are now turned out at night and in during the day to help keep them out of the heat - yup - heat in Derbyshire.  How bizarre!  There is no goodness in the grass so most are supplemented with a bit of hard feed and something for you all to consider as if your grass is anything like here - the horses will not be e getting the usual feed value that it normally provides at this

16.2 +hh, 5 yrs old, chestnut, registered Irish Sport Horse, gelding.  By Pride of Meath (Pride of Shaunlara) out of a ISH mare with Carrabawn View breeding this chap has super temperament in his blood.  For those of you who don’t know these old ID breed lines - they are known for having a fabulous disposition and Ketchup is no exception.  A lovely correct and compact stamp of a true quality m/w gelding.  We all have our favourites and this, without a doubt is one of mine.  An armchair ride, willing but totally sensible - he is light and really well balanced for a big horse, although being compact he doesn’t ride that big - you certainly don’t feel like you are on a great rangey monster!  Athletic paces he could do any job and the most fabulous smiley character to match.  We haven’t done that much jumping with him but he certainly shows power and talent and has popped 1.20m with ease.  I must get some photos of him in action as I think he will impress.  He deserves the best home and a kind mum or dad as he just wants to please.  Happy to just be a hack but capable of doing so much more!  Good to shoe, box, catch, clip and in heavy traffic.  £6000

15.3½ hh, 12 yrs old, grey, registered Irish Sport Horse mare.  By a TB (Actinium) out of a RID mare, Asha probably throws more to her TB father.  Classy and full of quality, this is an elegant lady who has a real personality and fabulous light athletic paces.  From Ireland her good breeding has meant she has already produced foals as well as jumped and cross countried.  She has bags of scope, loves to jump and is brave and careful.  Her flatwork is good and best of all if ridden quietly as she is in front of the leg.  But jumping is her real forte - point and she does the rest!  She is clever, genuine, with enormous scope and plenty of talent to compete seriously or do at least RC opens.   An ideal horse for a teenager or someone to affiliate well and have some fun.  She has hunted but gets would up like a spring so I would not recommend her as a good hunting horse.  Good to shoe, box, catch, clip and in heavy traffic.  £ 3550

16.½ hh (although looks and rides bigger), 5 yrs old, quality liver chestnut mare.  By Monte Carlo (Dutch) out of an ID x TB mare by Enniskeane Prince.  A fabulous sober temperament, we have Minnie for sale on behalf of her mum who bred her.  A striking looking yet very trainable horse who just soaks up what you teach her, wants to learn and do more.  She oozes presence and class and has caught many an eye since being with us.  Still green, she improves daily being balanced and a natural athlete in everything she does.  Bred to jump she would also excell as an eventer and shows loads of scope over a fence, being honest and brave.  We are still only popping little fences but she loves it and learns quickly.  A very sensible hack, she is never phased by all the heavy traffic around us.  Non mareish - her work is consistent and she must be a super prospect for someone  looking to bring on a genuine and talented horse to excell in any discipline.  Good to shoe, box, catch, clip and in heavy traffic.  For sale on behalf of a client.  £6500
15.2 hh, 6 yrs old, really well marked, Irish bred coloured quality cob gelding.  Since the ‘standing’ photo was taken Marble has filled out a lot and looks a proper square fellow but still with quality.  Smart and eye catching, this chap is active, forward, fun but totally safe.  He jumps for fun, was hunted in Ireland and is a proper workman.  An ideal fun all rounder who would do well in coloured classes as well as all other RC activities.  Working well on the flat he has good natural balance and continues to improve everyday - would do a good prelim test now.  But jumping he loves, being brave, honest with lots of scope.  Thus I think would he would suit someone who wants to do a bit of everything or purely jump.  Marble always seems ot have a fan club, probably because he always has a smiley face and always tries to please.  Well mannered and easy to do - just is a thoroughly nice fellow.  Super to hack he pricks his ears and steps out.  Good to shoe, box, catch, clip and in heavy traffic.  £4550
